House of Heroes are prepping for the release of a new indie EP on August 19th, titled Smoke -- the first release without Gotee Records since their national debut in 2005 -- but they're already working on a new full-length album. To make it happen without a label, they need the fans' help and they've launched an IndieGoGo campaign. And an incentive for signing up with them will grant pledgers a download of the Smoke EP prior to its August 19th release (within 48 hours of your pledge) and special access to the creative process of the album.

About the project, the band writes...

"A democratic vote took place in Columbus, OH in the summer of 2002. "House of Heroes" won. That was the name of our new band. It has been a great pleasure to record our music and tour the world for the past 10+ years. We've loved meeting so many interesting people and sharing this gift of music with you.

After recording 6 full lengths, 3 EPs, a few singles, and a couple of B-Sides albums with various record labels, it's time for us to give it a go on our own. One thing we consistently hear from fans is how much they enjoy our "concept" albums. In all honesty, we've never set out to make concept albums, they just sort of end up that way. We'd like to change that. We want to make a true concept album. A story.

Often times we'd discuss how fun it would be to do this, but we never followed through for several reasons. Fear of total commercial failure, the grandiose scope of the whole thing, the fact that it's not the 70's anymore and it's hard enough to hold someones attention for one song, let alone an entire album. But we believe that we've found a group of fans that are craving this very thing from us, and we are now inviting you to join us as we move forward into the next chapter of House of Heroes.

What We Need & What You Get
Recording and manufacturing music takes time and money. The budget we have outlined will allow us to record, mix, and master a record at the same quality that you've become accustomed to for the past several albums. In addition to that, we will also be able to take care of CD and Vinyl manufacturing costs, clothing printing costs, and shipping for all of the perks. If we are lucky enough to surpass our goal, we are excited to explore more ideas including music videos, other vinyl projects (*cough* The End is Not the End *cough*), and options to record even more songs!
